BET’s “Sistas” & “Zatima” are undoubtedly the highest rated and most popular shows on the network so when Emmy season is here every year, we’re surprised to never see the franchise on the ballot!
The Academy debuts a list sharing all of the shows and stars that are submitted by their respective networks before the official list of nominees are revealed.
After searching through the submission list this year, we didn’t see “Sistas” & “Zatima” on the ballot. We’re confused by the decision because there is another BET show that the network submits.
The network submits the hilarious new comedy “The Ms Pat Show” and the show has successfully received two nominations so far showing that there’s hope that BET could get more nominations.
Why not submit the “Sistas” franchise?
BET and Tyler Perry Studios continue to reign across platforms, with “Sistas” claiming the top spot as the #1 series with Black viewers L+3 currently airing on cable.* BET grew its “Sistas” audience versus L+SD double-digits +26%. The network also scored viewership lifts with the cable airing of BET+ original series “Tyler Perry’s Zatima” +8%.
We feel it’s a bit disrespectful that the show is holding the #1 spot on the network but no submission 6 seasons in?
Let’s hope BET changes that in the future!
